Steven R. Ellis, PhD is a Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics at the University of Louisville. He also serves as Associate Dean for Basic Science Education at the UofL School of Medicine. He joined the UofL School of Medicine in 1987. He teaches foundational biochemistry for undergraduate and graduate learners and contributes extensively to the integrated medical curriculum, with additional teaching in the dental curriculum.
He also teaches biotechnology as part of the Università del Piemonte Orientale’s Master’s International Program in Medical Biotechnologies. His research interests lie in the field of ribosome biogenesis with a focus on the ribosomopathy, Diamond Blackfan Anemia Syndrome. He has been Research Director for the Diamond Blackfan Anemia Foundation since 2004.
